Properly seat the evaporator temperature sensor in its dedicated slot in the heater casing or replace it (part no. OEM 64119321034 or 64116930015). The sensor is located on the right side (passenger footwell in LHD vehicles). Remove the side cover of the center console from the passenger side. The sensor is pushed directly through a small rectangular slot/opening in the evaporator/heater housing. In 90% of cases, the sensor hangs loosely in the footwell because someone forgot to put it back after cabin service. Pushing it back in all the way solves the freezing issue without any parts cost.
